• Strengthen your vocabulary with practical, topic-based word lists
• Improve your understanding of French grammar and sentence structure
• Practise real-life communication in everyday settings
• Expand your listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills
• Start thinking in French through repetition and contextual learning
• Prepare to confidently move on to intermediate level B1

Everything is designed to fit around your life, with clear weekly guidance and real content that reflects everyday French and culture.

What You’ll Learn at the A2 Level

At the A2 level, you’ll become more comfortable with:

• Speaking about your daily routine, plans, preferences, and experiences
• Understanding short, clear audio materials and written texts
• Asking and answering questions with greater fluency
• Describing your surroundings and giving basic opinions
• Participating in simple conversations at the supermarket, hospital, pharmacy, gym, hairdresser’s, musem, travel agency, etc.
• Using the past tense, future tense, present conditional, reflexive verbs, and more complex grammar structures
• Gaining deeper exposure to French phonetics and improving your pronunciation

Weekly Breakdown:
The A2 Study Routine

The A2 French course is divided into 15 weeks, with each week organised around 6 structured learning days. The rhythm of the course helps you stay consistent while allowing flexibility to revisit, skip ahead, or review when needed.

Day 1 + Day 4
Vocabulary

Continue to build a strong lexical base with the Word Builder system. Each vocabulary module includes:

• A bilingual French-English list with gender colour coding (blue for masculine, red for feminine)
• Native audio pronunciation
• Four interactive exercises and games to help you memorise and use the words
• A spaced repetition system, with each list reviewed later in the course to strengthen memory

Dozens of topics include the Internet, computing, work, tools, climate, sea life, birds, food, physical appearance, travel, and much more.

Day 2
Listening & Reading
with “Learn French with Anthony” Podcast

Your core material on Day 2 is an episode from the “Learn French with Anthony” podcast, specifically designed for A2 learners. For each episode, you will:

• Listen to natural, clearly spoken French
with full transcripts and bilingual explanations
• Follow sentence-by-sentence translation
to help you connect French with English
• Complete 4 interactive activities focused on
vocabulary, comprehension, and grammar
• Get used to the sounds and rhythm of authentic French

Listening becomes easier every week as you become familiar with common sentence patterns, connectors, and idiomatic expressions.

Day 3
Grammar and Conjugation

On Day 3, you’ll focus on the grammar points introduced in the podcast episode. Lessons are designed to teach grammar in context, using real examples:

• Clear explanations of A2 grammar topics: imperfect, future simple, conditionnal present, object pronouns, comparison,
questions, superlative, and more
• Bilingual examples for immediate understanding
• Interactive games and exercises
to help you practise and reinforce the rules

This approach helps you apply grammar naturally, instead of learning it in isolation.

Day 5
Communication

Communication modules at A2 level are based on realistic, practical interactions in shops, public services, schools, pubs, bookshops, and more. They help you develop all four language skills with:

• Audio dialogues and narrations
• Vocabulary lists and English translations for support
• Role plays and situational exercises to practise speaking and writing
• Cultural insights to make your French useful and meaningful

By the end of A2, you’ll feel comfortable using French in daily life situations.

Day 6
Cultural, Reading & Phonetics

A2 is the perfect time to refine your pronunciation and gain fluency in reading. Day 6 includes:

French Phonetics

You’ll explore the vowels and consonants of French using:

• Audio examples
• The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA)
• Interactive activities to improve pronunciation
and recognition of sounds

This is key to becoming a more confident speaker and better listener.

Your Second Graded Reader:
“La Vie en France”

You’ll also follow the 24-chapter A2-level graded reader La Vie en France, an engaging story that offers:

• Bilingual text presentation (French + English)
• Natural dialogues and everyday vocabulary
• Simple grammar and common vocabulary
• Audio recordings for each chapter

This story-based learning method keeps your motivation high and vocabulary growing, while reinforcing grammar and reading fluency.

Transition Smoothly from A1 to A2 and Prepare for B1

This course is part of the full EF Complete French Course, so if you’ve just completed A1, you’ll find the transition to A2 smooth and seamless.
