The B1 level in the EF Complete French Course spans 18 weeks, each composed of 6 learning days. You’ll work through vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural immersion—with a focus on practical communication and deeper understanding of how French really works.

Day 1 + Day 4
Vocabulary

Each week, you’ll work on four vocabulary modules from the Word Builder. These include:

• Bilingual word lists covering intermediate-level topics like Housing, clothing, shoes and accessories, newspapers and TV, theatre and cinema, perception, behaviour, climate, matter, weather, and more
• Gender colour-coding (blue for masculine, red for feminine)
for quick visual reference
• Native audio recordings for pronunciation
• Four interactive games and exercises per module
• Built-in spaced repetition, with each word list reviewed
multiple times across the course

These modules provide the lexical base you need to communicate fluently on a wide range of topics.

Day 2
Listening & Reading
with “Learn French with Anthony” Podcast

Each Tuesday, you’ll study a new episode from the “Learn French with Anthony” Podcast, selected for B1-level learners. These episodes expose you to authentic, yet accessible, French speech and provide:

• Full bilingual transcripts with sentence-by-sentence breakdowns
• Four comprehension and vocabulary exercises per episode
• Exposure to colloquial expressions and natural rhythms of French
• Progressive development of your listening skills

This regular practice with real spoken French helps you bridge the gap between textbook French and everyday communication.

Day 3
Grammar and Conjugation

Grammar and conjugation lessons on Day 3 are based on the content introduced in the podcast. Topics covered at the B1 level include:

• Imperfect vs. compound past
• The present & past subjunctive
• Pronouns (object, relative, possessive, demonstrative)
• Cause, consequence, concession, opposition, hypothesis, etc.
• Indirect speech
• Sentence connectors
and more complex sentence structures

Each lesson includes bilingual examples, clear explanations, and interactive exercises so you can apply grammar directly in context and solidify your understanding.

Day 5
Communication

At B1, communication modules are designed around well-known icons of French-speaking culture—from artists, authors, and monuments to fashion designers, food brands, and historical figures. These modules offer:

• Narrations and dialogues featuring cultural references
• Vocabulary lists with translations
• Role plays and situational activities
• Listening, speaking, reading, and writing tasks
• Exposure to a wider range of vocabulary and sentence structures

You’ll develop your communication skills while gaining insight into Francophone culture in fields like art, cinema, gastronomy, literature, fashion, and books.

Day 6
Listening & Reading
with “Explore France with Anthony” Podcast

Saturdays are all about immersion. At the B1 level, you’ll work with specially selected episodes of the “Explore France with Anthony” Podcast, which focuses on six major cultural and societal themes:

• Art
• Culture
• Cooking
• History
• Society
• Travel

Each episode includes:

• Audio recording + French transcript
• English sentence-by-sentence translation
• Video quiz, based on authentic material, to test comprehension and explore the topic further
• Vocabulary activities to reinforce new expressions
• Real spoken French with natural intonation and tone

This day helps you connect your French learning with the realities of life in France and the broader French-speaking world.
