Introduction

Welcome to
The EF Complete French Course

Thank you for trusting this course and making it part of your French learning journey.
I’m truly honoured to accompany you as you progress through the French language and culture, step by step.

A course designed
for real progress

This course was created with a simple, powerful goal in mind: to give you real exposure to the French language, in all its richness and variety. That means you’ll encounter French the way it’s actually used—through podcasts, stories, cultural content, and hundreds of interactive activities. It also means that it’s completely normal to have questions or not understand everything right away.

Think of this course like a TV series. You don’t get all the answers in the first few episodes—but as the story unfolds, everything becomes clearer. The same goes for French: things will make more and more sense as you move forward. What seems complex now will feel natural later, because the course is designed to revisit, reinforce, and deepen your understanding over time.

Go at your own pace

There’s no need to rush. You can study every day, once a week, or at any pace that fits your life. The suggested weekly sequence was carefully designed to give you the best learning experience possible, and I do recommend following it if you can. But this course is also yours to explore freely—you can navigate through all levels and categories, jump into the modules that interest you most, or come back to previous lessons whenever you like.

Vocabulary:
Focus on exposure, not perfection

You’ll notice that the course puts a strong emphasis on vocabulary. But don’t worry—you’re not expected to remember everything immediately. Thanks to my built-in spaced repetition system, all vocabulary modules will be reviewed at least once as you progress through the levels. The goal is to familiarise you with a wide range of words and phrases, so that when you come across them again, your brain is already prepared to recognise and retain them. That’s how long-term memory is built—naturally and effectively.

Podcast:
Challenging but Rewarding

Each week of the course is centred around one episode of my “Learn French with Anthony” podcast. The content is rich, and yes—it can be a little challenging. But that’s exactly what makes it so effective. The key is this: you don’t need to understand everything to move forward. In fact, one of the best things you can do is to keep going, and then come back to each episode after a few weeks.

When you revisit an episode later on, you’ll be amazed at how much more you understand. That moment—that sense of progress—is one of the most motivating parts of the journey. It’s proof that what once felt difficult is now becoming second nature.

A Lifelong Project,
Always Growing

The EF Complete French Course is not just a collection of lessons—it’s a long-term project, something I’m fully committed to developing every week. When I’m not teaching, I’m creating new content, expanding the modules, and refining the course for you.

Not all the content is available just yet, but the roadmap is here—and new materials are added weekly. In the meantime, you already have hundreds of lessons, exercises, podcasts, and readings to explore, practise, and enjoy.

Bonus Content
on the Blog

And don’t forget to visit the ExploreFrench blog regularly. There, you’ll find free articles published with parallel texts and audio in six languages, plus vocabulary games and activities. It’s the perfect way to keep practising your French between lessons—and to explore even more topics related to culture, society, and everyday life in France.

Bon voyage dans la langue française !

I’m so happy you’re here, and I can’t wait to see how far you’ll go.

– Anthony
